Update Invoice vs Report Invoice

Endpoint: PATCH base_url/api/v1/invoice/update/{{IRN}}
vs
Endpoint: POST base_url/api/v1/vat/postpayment

What is the difference between these two and more importantly what are the correct scenarios where we call each of these endpoints?

The update endpoint is for updating an invoice status. https://einvoice.firs.gov.ng/docs/access-point-providers/update
The report endpoint is for reporting "PAID" transactions for Fiscalization. https://einvoice.firs.gov.ng/docs/access-point-providers/report

SysAdmin thanks for the response, my thought was that if I update my invoice to PAID using this: PATCH base_url/api/v1/invoice/update/{{IRN}}, It will basically tell FIRS that the transaction for which the invoice was given has been paid. So I don't understand when you say, I should still report the transaction as paid using this: base_url/api/v1/vat/postpayment. Hence my question. Do I just assume that once the receiver of the invoice pays I can just call the 2 endpoints consecutively to fully report it as paid, or am I missing something?

@Coscotex, Your assumption is correct, you can call the two endpoints consecutively when there is a paid update. However, please keep in mind that you’re reporting to a different engine (Fiscalization Engine).

Kindly check your portal for the report base URL to ensure proper reporting.
